Essential Info
It's another busy day at work, and that conference call you're on is showing no signs of letting up. You realize it's already 3 p.m., and you haven't gotten that call from your kids letting you know they arrived home safely. But thanks to this video capture system, you can pull up your four-camera video surveillance system on your work computer and see your 12-year-old watching TV in the family room, while your 14-year-old is in the back yard skateboarding on the ramp he built — all without missing a word of your conference call! You can even have your home computer digitally record video footage when it detects motion, so if your kids were Internet chatting in the home office before they finished their homework, you'll have the evidence.
You can do all that and more with this state-of-the-art Four-Port Video Capture System that lets you remotely view up to four cameras in your home or business from anywhere in the world where you can get access to a LAN or a TCP/IP connection. This remarkable system works with your existing PC, eliminating the expense of investing in a dedicated security monitor, quad processor and time-lapse VCR! And unlike competing systems, this one works with any surveillance cameras, without any subscription fees apart from the broadband Internet service that you probably already have.
The system works by taking the baseband video signals from up to four color or black white cameras, and outputting them to your Windows®-based PC. Images are shown in a quad display, so you can see all four cameras simultaneously. If you do want a record of what happened, you can configure your hard drive to begin recording images when motion is sensed on the video image, or at specific intervals. You'll be able to define any area of the screen to monitor for motion, even with non-standard shapes. The moment motion is detected within that area, the PC will immediately begin digitally recording. Plus, at a compression rate up to 300:1, you can save only critical moments, without being stuck with gigabytes of useless data, or without having to scan through hours of videotape. The video source (brightness, contrast, etc.), preview size, image quality and compression ratio are fully adjustable.
Designed to snap into the PCI slot of any Pentium II or better computer, the video capture card is built with four composite video input connectors. It fully supports NTSC and PAL video formats. Includes a CD-ROM containing the drivers for the capture card, server software for only Windows® 98, and remote viewing software for Windows® 98/2000/NT.
